We are excited to announce that September 13th – 19th, 2015, has been pronounced as National DSP Recognition Week! Recognized by Governor Charlie Baker and the resolution backed in the Senate by Senator Ed Markey, this week celebrates dedicated, well-trained professionals who provide “hands on” daily supports, training and habilitation services to persons with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. This workforce is responsible for the health, safety and emotional well-being of the individuals they serve, supporting them to live more meaningful and productive lives within their community by promoting inclusion and independence.
As a member of ANCOR and a representative for Massachusetts, Chief Executive Officer Nancy Silver Hargreaves has been working to ensure Senatorial and Gubernatorial support for this resolution, and this diligence has resulted in continued observation of this week for our Direct Support Professionals this year!
We at WCI are extraordinarily proud of our Direct Support Professionals! They are the lifeblood of our organization and others like us, and the key to ensuring that people with disabilities live fulfilling lives. They all deserve this national recognition!
